Register for the 2015 UIC Convocation

The UIC Convocation is a ceremony to welcome new students to the University of Illinois at Chicago. This event marks the official beginning of a new student's entry into the UIC academic community. All new students are expected to attend this special event. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Register for the 2015 UIC Convocation by logging into my.uic.edu and clicking on the link in the "My Announcement" portlet.

Need To Know

Students
  • Check In

    Please plan to arrive for check in by 2:30 p.m. Check in will be in the Parking Structure east of the UIC Pavilion. At check in, you will be grouped with your classmates from your college.

  • Seating

    At the UIC Convocation Ceremony, you will be seated on the main level of the UIC Pavilion with the classmates from your college.

  • Attire

    Dress for the event is casual. Please wear comfortable clothing. All new students will receive a UIC Convocation tee-shirt.

  • Block Party

    The Chancellor's New Student Welcome block party will immediately follow the UIC Convocation ceremony. Join us in the SRC autocourt for food, fun, and games! Sign the Class of 2019 banner that will be displayed in UIC Student Center East!

    After the ceremony, you will be led from the UIC Pavilion to the SRC autocourt for the block party.

Parents
  • Check In

    Please plan to arrive for check in by 2:30 p.m. Check in for parents will be in the UIC Pavilion lobby.



  • Attire

    Dress for the event is casual. Please wear comfortable clothing.


  • Block Party

    The Chancellor's New Student Welcome block party will immediately follow the UIC Convocation ceremony. Join us in the SRC autocourt for food, fun, and games!

    After the ceremony, you will be led from the UIC Pavilion to the SRC autocourt for the block party.

Faculty & Staff
  • In order to positively impact the success and first year experience of our new students at the University of Illinois at Chicago, faculty and staff are encouraged to be a part of the UIC Convocation ceremony. Join us in welcoming the new UIC Class of 2019!

  • Check In

    Faculty and staff should plan to arrive for check in by 2:30 p.m. Check in will be in the Parking Structure east of the UIC Pavilion, where faculty and staff will line up for the processional.

  • Procession

    All faculty and staff will process into the ceremony at 3:00 p.m. and be led to a reserved seating area in the Pavilion.

  • Attire

    Dress for the event is casual. Please wear UIC colors.


  • Block Party

    The Chancellor's New Student Welcome block party will immediately follow the UIC Convocation ceremony. Join us in the SRC autocourt for food, fun, and games while we continue to welcome UIC's new students

Travel Info

Aug. 21-23 and Aug. 28-30

Inbound Congress Parkway (eastbound I-290) at the Byrne Interchange will close at 10 p.m. both Fridays. Traffic can still access the I-90/94 exit ramps. A detour will direct traffic to the outbound Dan Ryan�s Roosevelt Road exit, Jefferson Street, Harrison Street and Wells Street to connect with Congress Parkway.

Outbound Eisenhower (I-290) at the Byrne Interchange will close by 5 a.m. both Saturdays. Traffic can still access the I-90/94 exit ramps. A detour will direct traffic to Wells Street, Harrison Street, Jefferson Street, Van Buren Street and Ashland Avenue to connect with the Eisenhower. Lower Wacker Drive also will follow this same detour.

Check in will be in the Harrison Street Parking Structure, just east of the UIC Pavilion. At check in, you will be grouped with other students in your college.

Please plan to arrive in the parking structure no later than 2:30pm.

The UIC Pavilion will be open to guests starting at 2:00pm.

Seating is open and there is no limit to how many guests you can bring.

Please dress casually and comfortably. A UIC Convocation T-Shirt will be provided to all new students at check in.

The UIC Convocation ceremony and Campus Spirits and Tradition will last approximately 1 hour. A class photo and block party will immediately follow the ceremony.

Students will be led from the Pavilion to the SRC Autocourt by UIC Mascot Sparky D. Dragon.
